Chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, has been honoured with the 2026 African Business Leadership Award (ABLA) for Fiscal Governance and Revenue Accountability in recognition of his contributions to fiscal governance reforms and revenue transparency in Nigeria.
The award was presented during the 16th African Leadership Magazine Africa Summit held in London, where Dr. Shehu was recognized for his leadership in driving institutional reforms, promoting transparency in revenue mobilization and strengthening accountability in the management of public finances.
According to the Commission, Dr. Shehu has, since assuming office, championed reforms aimed at enhancing fiscal transparency, improving revenue accountability and reinforcing RMAFC’s constitutional mandate of ensuring fairness and equity in the allocation of national revenue.
RMAFC said the award reflects growing continental recognition of Dr. Shehu’s efforts to promote sound fiscal policies and strengthen institutions that support economic resilience across Africa. It noted that the Commission has continued to align its public finance management reforms with global best practices under his leadership.
The Commission added that the honour also acknowledges Dr. Shehu’s strategic leadership, commitment to institutional excellence and dedication to public service, describing him as a key figure in advancing sustainable fiscal governance and national economic development.
Congratulating its chairman on the achievement, RMAFC expressed confidence that the recognition would further motivate the Commission’s ongoing efforts to deepen fiscal reforms, strengthen public confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management system and promote equitable national development.
The Commission described the award as another milestone in Dr. Shehu’s public service career and a testament to his contributions to strengthening Nigeria’s public finance architecture.
