Defence Minister Reaffirms Commitment to Families of Fallen Heroes, Hosts Late Brig. Gen. Braimah’s Brother

The Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), OFR, received Mr. Hassan Braimah, brother of the late Brigadier General Oseni Omoh Braimah, at the Ministry of Defence, Abuja.

Brigadier General Braimah, a distinguished Infantry Officer of the Nigerian Army, died in the line of duty at Benisheikh on 9th April 2026. At the time of his passing, he was Commander of the 29 Task Force Brigade, a statement by Leah Babatunde, SA, Media to the minister noted.

He was laid to rest with full military honours at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery, Maiduguri, on 15th April 2026, alongside seven other personnel who died in service.

During the visit, Mr. Hassan Braimah shared poignant memories of his brother as a dedicated officer committed to the service of the nation. He expressed pride in the General’s sacrifice and assured the Minister of the family’s resolve to support the loved ones left behind.

Responding with deep empathy, the Minister extended the condolences of the Ministry and the Armed Forces of Nigeria to the Braimah family. He reaffirmed that the Ministry maintains an open-door policy and provides continuous support to families of fallen heroes.

“The Armed Forces will never abandon the families of those who lay down their lives for this country,” General Musa stated. “We remain committed to providing assistance, care, and direct access to the Ministry whenever needed.”

The visit underscored the nation’s enduring gratitude for the sacrifices of its military personnel and the Ministry’s resolve to uphold their legacy by supporting their families.
