In a bid to encourage group interaction among security agencies, a route march exercise for the Military, Paramilitary, Security and other response agencies is set to take place on Saturday 18th November, 2018.

The Director Defence Information (DDI), Maj. Gen. John Enenche, while addressing newsmen in Abuja, said that the exercise which will take place nationwide, will involve the movement of troops and other security agencies and solicited cooperation and understanding by the general public.

He noted that the major reasons for the exercise is to encourage group interaction, enhance espirit de corps and harmony among members of the Security and Response Agencies in order to curb the altercations that are sometimes experienced among the agencies.

While fielding questions from newsmen if the exercise will affect the election in Anambra State, the DDI said that elections take precedence over all other activities due to it’s high national interest, adding that the decision is totally on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, in which Anambra State falls under to decide if the exercise will hold in Anambra or not.

Enenche also used the opportunity to clarify that the exercise is not a show of force but to ensure greater corporation among the security agencies.

According to him, “when you are showing force, you go out with the kind of equipment you have, at least at first level to reassure the general public that this is what your forces have to be able to protect you but for this particular one it is not so”.

The theme for this month’s exercise is ‘Together we are’, Protecting Lives and Property; Ensuring Unity and Progress; Supporting Democracy; Upholding the Constitution; and Defending National Interests.

The route march which is a quarterly exercise had its previous edition in July.
