Abuja- The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TY Buratai has warned all officers and soldiers interested in politics to resign their commission or apply for voluntary discharge forthwith.
This is as he also sounded a note of warning to individuals who have been approaching some officers and soldiers for undisclosed political reasons to desist.
While acting on intelligence information gathered on the unscrupulous activities which these set of individuals have chosen to embark on, the Army Chief warned such persons to desist from these acts.
He further clarified that the Nigerian Army is a thorough professional, disciplined, loyal and apolitical institution that has clear Constitutional roles and responsibilities and therefore should not be caught in the web of politics.
He stated emphatically that, “Any officer or soldier of the Nigerian Army found to be hobnobbing with such elements or engaged in unprofessional conducts such as politicking would have himself or herself to blame”.
The COAS further reiterated that the Nigerian Army will remain apolitical and loyal to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
