The management of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, (FAAN) on Thursday, said it has commenced preliminary investigation into the cause of the fire incident at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport Owerri.
The Acting MD, Engr. Salisu Daura who led a team of Management staff to the Sam Mbakwe International Airport, Owerri, confirmed this in a statement on its Twitter handle @FAAN_Official and obtained by The Sight News
According to the statement, the team went round to see the site of the incident and the extent of damaged caused by the fire.
Also, a committee was immediately constituted to check the remote cause of the incident, just as FAAN disclosed further that it notified Zenith Insurance Nigeria and they are on ground to evaluate the financial implication of the damage, with a view to commence repair works immediately.
Also in the team were Dir. of HR & Admin, Mr. Honorious Anozie, Dir. Of Commercial and Business Development, Mr. Sadiku Rafindadi; GM Civil, Engr. Muhktar Bello, GM Safety, Elifue Agbi, & the Airport Manager.
Recall that there was a fire incident on Monday, April 8, 2019, that affected some parts of the terminal building of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri at about 1400hours.
