Ebonyi Commissioner Flags Off 2020 Budget Defence

Abakaliki: The Ebonyi State Committee on Budget and Planning has been charged to work assiduously, towards the realization of a reliable and transparent budget that would stand the test of time, come 2020.

The commissioner for Budget, Planning, Research and Monitoring in the state, Mrs Debora Okah, gave the charge during the Flag off ceremony of budget defence, which took place at the Ministry of Finance, Abakaliki.

The Commissioner, who expressed confidence with the calibre of members that formed the committee, however, warned all Ministries, Departments, Agencies and parastatals in the state, to ensure that their budget proposals were devoid of fraudulent activities, as government would not tolerate malpractices.

She assured that her office would do every thing possible to make the Ebonyi 2020 budget the best in the country.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of budget and planning, and chairman Budget committee, Mrs Patricia Okiri, in her remark, charged the MDAs to control their budget provisions by not over bloating it.

She also warned them to disclose their usual expenditures generated, and ensure that they effect all the corrections given to them during budget discussions, so as to make the 2020 state budget the most credible one.

In a vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Pastor Moses Agama, assured the commissioner that the committee would do a good job that would make the state proud, stressing that the importance of good budget for state and national developments cannot be over emphasized, as they form the fulcrum on which all project implementations by government revolves.
